Danzer employs almost 60 purchasers who search for high-quality logs in North America, Europe and Africa. No company has more experience or knows better where the best wood species grow

Many years of experience

Danzer searches the globe for logs that are best suited for veneer and lumber production. The company’s log buyers have more than 60 years experience in purchasing top-quality wood from forests in North America, Europe and Africa. Only a very small percentage of the available logs meet Danzer’s highest quality standards and are suitable for veneer production. Thanks to their extensive experience, Danzer’s experts are well versed in the specific properties of every wood species. They know where the best trees grow – whether in Canada, Germany or Russia.

High-quality wood

Danzer’s trading activities involve high-quality hardwoods. The company carries all of the most important wood species available. The most popular North American varieties are Red and White Oak, Black Cherry, Black Walnut and Hard Maple. The most important wood species from European forests are high-quality Beech, Oak, Ash, Birch and other colored hardwoods. In Africa, Danzer focuses on the species that grow in its own concessions, such as Sapele, Sipo and Wenge. However, the company’s log specialists can procure almost any requested species of hardwood.

Major markets for Danzer timbers are regions where high-quality wood is needed for the manufacture of veneer, plywood, flooring as well as items for interior decoration. The products are always tailored precisely to customer demands. Our customers draw their timber from Danzer’s production facilities worldwide and from numerous sales outlets in various countries.

Environmental protection and sustainability

Danzer is not focused only on quality criteria when selecting suitable logs. Environmental protection and sustainability are also key issues for the company. Sustainable forest management and responsible procurement of high-quality wood has been Danzer’s guiding principle for generations.

Did you know...

... that no forest is destroyed to harvest wood used for decorative purposes?

... that only a few trees have the properties necessary for their wood to be used for decorative purposes?

... that ten percent of today´s forest areas would be enough to meet the worldwide demand for timber sustainably (including paper production)?
