Starting Young

Last week, I received an email with a nice surprise: it had some really nice examples attached of what Czech kids had created with our veneers. Since 2013, we have donated veneer residues to the organization "Fíha - Dýha"; they pass them on to kindergartens and schools. Seeing now the results fills me with awe. I hadn’t expected to see such creative and beautifully done “pieces of art”. We are glad that we can contribute in a small way to some hours of fun for these kids and will continue to support the project. There could even a positive side effect for our industry: this way children practice through play to work with the resource hardwood.

Art with natural materials
„Fíha – Dýha“ is a nationwide project in the Czech Republic which promotes the awareness of natural materials for children and young people in the classroom as well as in everyday life ( www.fihadyha.cz ). Since the beginning of the project in 2013, more than 2,800 educational institutions have received one or more free veneer deliveries. The children and young people in these kindergartens and schools are between 3 and 18 years old. They create pictures, Christmas and Easter decorations, bookmarks or even elaborate 3D-models with the veneers.

We are looking forward to more beautiful works of art from the Czech Republic's youngest "woodworkers"! ☺
