Danzer Veneers Americas in Edinburgh, Indiana is hiring a Log Sales Assistant. This position assists the Log Sales Manager in day-to-day operations, such as grading logs for specific customers, arranging transportation for loads that have been sold, and ensuring that inventory levels are in line with sales demands.

 

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, day shift with limited travel when needed.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Sales Support: Assist the Log Sales Manager in day-to-day operations such as ensuring logs are ready for sales and loads are prepped for departure from the log yard
  • Inventory Management: Monitoring log yard inventory, working closely with the Log Yard Manager to ensure that log sales are receiving the correct logs in the required volumes to match sales demands.
  • Log Grading & Quality Control: Actively select logs at the customer level, ensuring quality and log grade reflect the logs that are being sold to specific customer purchase orders
  • Logistics Coordination: Scheduling log trucks and shipping containers in coordination with the shipping department, maintaining daily schedule for loader operators in conjunction with sales needs 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Industry Knowledge: Basic knowledge of log scaling, species Identification, and general industry terminology
  • Logistics & Admin: Proficiency with log yard management software SAP and standard spreadsheet programs (Excel) both on a desktop and a handheld.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with truck drivers, procurement agents, and international buyers.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to split time between an office and a rugged, outdoor log yard environment in all weather conditions.
