Our Production Sites
Danzer operates production sites in key hardwood regions in North America and Europe. Each location is positioned close to the raw material source to reduce transport distances, ensure efficient logistics and maintain consistent product quality.
All sites follow shared technology and process standards, while retaining the flexibility to specialize according to their core competencies and regional strengths.
Danzer’s veneer mill in Edinburgh, Indiana is located in one of the most valuable hardwood regions in the world, known especially for Walnut and White Oak. The town was once referred to as the veneer capital of the world.
Danzer acquired one of the original veneer companies in Edinburgh almost 50 years ago and has continuously developed the site since then. Today, the facility operates four proprietary Danzer VS4000 slicers, one Danzer RSL4000 staylog and a peeling lathe.
Modern technology, experienced teams and close proximity to the resource ensure consistently high-quality veneer products and responsible use of hardwood resources. Approximately 200 employees work at the site.
The Williamsport facility is one of our major veneer slicing operations in North America. It operates six direct-feed veneer lines and was the first Danzer plant to implement automatic direct infeed from slicer to dryer.
Core species include Red Oak, Maple, Cherry, White Ash, White Oak, Poplar, Hickory and Birch. The plant produces veneers ranging from commodity to premium grades.
Founded in 1984, Williamsport is among the largest veneer mills in the USA in terms of machine capacity and is known for high productivity per employee.
Located near Pittsburgh, Darlington serves as Danzer’s central clipping, grading and sorting hub for North American veneer. Consolidating inventory at one location allows customers to efficiently source from a broad and consistent product range.
Grading by highly experienced wood experts follow strict quality-control principles to ensure uniformity and reliability. The site also benefits from excellent transport connections, enabling fast delivery times.
Established in 1992 and acquired by Danzer in 1994, Darlington employs around 140 people and also houses Danzer’s North American finance, IT and engineering teams.
Danzer’s Shade Gap facility specializes in drying hardwood lumber, including demanding thick stock. The site purchases green lumber and dries it homogeneously without breakage or defects.
Shade Gap can dry all major North American hardwood species in thicknesses from 4/4 up to 12/4, with particular expertise in Walnut, Oak, White Oak and Maple from 6/4 upwards.
Founded in 1987, the facility’s proximity to the resource provides logistical advantages and enables fast order fulfillment.
The Durham site produces spliced veneer faces for doors and panels in a wide range of dimensions. Founded in 1958, the facility is known for high manufacturing standards, reliability and flexibility.
With a skilled team of more than 15 employees, many with decades of experience, the site serves both small custom orders and larger industrial volumes, always with a focus on consistent quality and short turnaround times.
