Danzer Offers A Behind-The-Scenes Glimpse

Dornbirn / Cologne May 2015 - At this year's Interzum in Cologne, hardwood and veneer specialist Danzer is presenting not only new products and applications but also their development expertise: Concrete product developments at various stages illustrate how Danzer supports their customers in the realization of their hardwood applications. On exhibit in this space are for instance the combinations of wood with light, metal and other materials. The center of the presentation is formed by new products such as the enhanced 3D-Veneer basic, thick-cut veneers for the furniture industry as well as innovative wood surfaces such as Amber Beech, Vinterio Rustic, Driftwood, Danzer Linea Smoked Larch and Figura Maple. Examples of Danzer material uses in automotive, furniture and architectural applications complete the range of information provided.

For this year's Interzum, the world's leading trade fair of the furniture supply industry, Danzer has advanced their exhibition concept and is allowing a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their product development work. "More and more customers are looking for new flexible solutions how to realize their hardwood applications," explains Eckart Schmitt, CEO of Danzer Specialty Division. "At the exhibition we show detailed examples from the fields of interior design, furniture, automotive and industrial design that demonstrate how we can support innovative new products as a reliable partner to our customers from ideation to implementation."

New wooden surfaces – e.g. Amber Beech, Driftwood and Figura Maple
Danzer surprises with various new interpretations of one of the main hardwood species in Europe: Amber Beech veneer with a darker than usual, golden brownish tone, Vinterio beech, which is characterized by fine stripes and as a third variant Beech Driftwood with a natural rustic appearance. Additional new rustic and earthy Vinterio surfaces are on show: Norway Spruce, Oregon Pine and Rustic Oak. The Danzer Linea product line has been complemented right before Interzum with Danzer Linea Larch and Danzer Linea Smoked Larch. In Cologne, Danzer Linea is being presented also in American Walnut, American White Oak, European Birch and Silver Birch. Danzer Figura, a technically figured veneer, is presented for the first time in the species Maple.

Danzer 3D-Veneer and thick-cut veneers
The application range for Danzer 3D-Veneers has been further widened with the basic variant exhibited on the fair: they are well suited to be used as inner layers or as a decorative surface layer of molded plywood shells; due to their technical properties and their price point they are even suited as inner layers for upholstered shells. The new 3D-Veneer basic is available in thick 2 mm, offering new creative and technical possibilities. Danzer also shows its high-quality thick-cut veneers for furniture applications to produce a resource- and cost-effective solid furniture look.

Applications
At the booth are also various applications of Danzer materials on exhibit, which demonstrate their creative and industrial potential: technical veneers in automobiles, Danzer Linea birch in the public space, new wooden surfaces on furniture, 3D-Veneer basic in chairs and 3D-Veneer UPM Grada being used for rapid prototyping.
